This is a must have for anyone who is a total stickler about their car!!! Quick history- MB E430 that I got from a gentleman who's wife drove the car from Memphis to South Carolina to visit her hometown all the time, had;of course, a ton of highway rock chips. Read on a mercedes forum by Greg at detail image, about this product and looked into it. Did some research and thought, what the heck. Ordered the touch-up paint from MB and tried the product out. Followed instructions, and "blobbed" touch up paint on about 40 or 50 chips ranging from very minute to pretty large scratches. I did find that the fiberglass pen -that I went ahead and purchased- was totally useless due to no matter how fine I filed it down, it would create very fine scratches outside of the scratch I was tring to fix/ fill in. So I acually used a paperclip to "scratch out" any rust & dirt that was in the larger chips. Waited 48 hrs and used the blob eliminator. It just smoothes out the blob leaving a fairly flush, perfect match in the scratch. Not a 100% perfect, but there is no way unless a complete re-paint of hood. I would say 85 - 90% better which is pretty impressive. The best part is, if you mess up, drop a dab of paint somewhere you weren't suppose to, who cares. This stuff cleans it up and no stress!
1. Some deeper chips might require two applications. 2. In my case, with alot of chips, takes alot of elbow grease. There is a little work in it. 3. Make sure you got some ventilation, it was winter when I did so this did in a closed garage. HEADACHE! and yea,- it was my fault! 4. I was a little conservative on each touch-up chip at first. Do not be, it works better when you really put a "blob" of touch-up paint on the chip, it will flush with rest of paint when you are done. Hope this helps some folks out there!!!!!! |

I have a dear friend that has a 1993 GMC Jimmy that was chipped every which way from Sunday. I told him to go to the GMC dealership of his choice and obtain the correct touch up paint to match his truck. It was a Medium Metallic Blue color. He and I detailed the hell out of it inside and out and we hit every chip with a wax removing solvent and nick sanded every chip. I turned him loose with his touch up paint and he blobbed about 200 chips. We had a few beers while the touch up paint cured and he was quite the skeptic about this "Blob Eliminator" stuff and was complaining that his truck looked worse now that it did with the chips. I had some clean old tee-shirt rags and the little plastic card that comes with the "Blob Eliminator" and proceeded to eliminate the blobs, one by one. It was like doing magic, the blob lightened up and then totally disappeared. I showed him how to do it and we went on to completely restore his chipped paint to better than new. We went on with the rest of the detail and then put an old paint sealant on it ( Blue Coral's Fomblin A ) which was the best over the counter stuff available back then and his little old Jimmy looked fantastic. You could not tell where a single chip was anywhere on his truck. I thought he was going to wet himself when we were done! I am sold on this product and have used it for years and am quite thankfuk to the dentist that invented it. It is a staple in my detailing arsenal!

I am sold on this stuff. I was worried about using it on touch up paint that had had been applied over a week before - but after 20-30 seconds of rubbing with the Blob Eliminator, the touch up paint leveled off and the chip had almost vanished. I treated 15-20 chips on the front of my Corvette and they are all gone and ready for a Clear Bra installation.
