Default Full write up of Black Scion TC Detail.

**Edited now w/ write-up**

Before:

Notice the swirls:

Products used for Detail
- 2 buckets
- PB Spray and Rinse
- PB Super Slick and Suds
- Menzerna Intensive Polish
- Menzerna FP II
- PB Ex
- MF Towels
- PC 7424
- Lake Country Buffer pads: White, Orange and Black
- 303 Degreaser
- 303 Protectant

First step - Engine Detail:
- Warm up engine for 3-5 min
- Cover any wiring
- Spray down engine w/ hose

- Spray engine w/ 303 Degreaser

- Take a towel and rub it in to agitate the stains etc

- Spray down w/ hose again
- Spray w/ 303 Protectant
- Use towel to rub it in

Second Step - Wheel clean:
- Apply PB Spray and Rinse (apply to mf towel and wipe on)
- Spray w/ hose off. (sorry no pics of before and after)

Third step - Wash/Dry Exterior:
- Get 2 buckets
- Fill one bucket up w/ water and the 2nd w/ water and PB Super Slick and Suds.

- Spray bug/tar remover on any parts of the vehicle that look like they need it.
- Spray down car w/ hose

- Wet wash mitt then "dunk" it into soap bucket
**note** When washing w/ mitt, don't put your hand inside it. Just put your hand on top and glide it across the car. Less force is used so less chance of having anything happen to the paint.
- After you have glided the mitt over the car, "dunk" it 1st into the bucket w/ just water to clean it off. Then "dunk" it back into the bucket w/ soap.
*Repeat till car is clean*
- Get MF towel and begin drying
- Don't wipe the towel in a circular motion. Always do it in straight lines.
*Would have sheet rinsed the car but couldn't get the nozzle off *

Step four/five - Polishing:
- Plug in your PC7424 and get ready to have fun.

- Put on the orange pad.
- Put a small ring of Menzerna Intensive Polish around the outside of the pad.

- Take the PC and "smear" the product from the bad onto the panel of the car you are going to be working on.
- Start off w/ PC on #3 to "wipe" in the product to the paint.
- Turn it up to #5 and take your time going over the area.

- Go left to right making sure to overlap as your coming back on your passes.
- Then go up and down w/ the same method.
- Once your area is done, grab a MF towel and wipe off the product
- Stop to take pics of your goofy reflection.

- Followed those steps till I was done.
- Took off the Orange pad and now put on the white pad
- Applied menzerna FP II and did the same-steps that I did w/ the Intensive Polish

Step Six - Waxing:
- Take the white pad off the PC and put on the Black pad.
- Apply small ring of PB EX around the outter edge.
- Smear it on the same way as you would a polish.
- Set speed on PC to about 4.5
- Glide PC over area you are waxing.
*This step goes much quicker then polishing.*
- You don't have to go as slow as you do when polishing and can cover a larger area at one time.
- Wipe off w/ MF towel and proceed to next panel till finished.

Step Seven - Tire Dressing:
- Apply PB Bold 'n Bright.

- Simple as that

Step Eight - Pictures:
- Take an obscene amount of pics
- Gawk at the outcome

Nice work!!

A couple of quick questions . . . first do you always clean the wheels last?

Second, I notice you said you sprayed the wheels with PB's Spray & Rinse and then wiped them off. S&R is a rather strong wheel cleaner. Do you feel that not rinsing it off the will result in any damage to the finish of the wheel?

I actually goofed while posting this. I did the wheels after the engine. The pics of the wheels was to show the tire dressing that i did at the end. I have to go edit that Thanks for questioning that. And as for the PB Spray and rinse cleaner; it's a great cleaner. We did rinse after applying the product.

Spray & Rinse is a great wheel cleaner. It's quite strong.

Have you ever tried Meguiar's Wheel Brightener? It comes in a concentrated form so you can dilute it to the strength you want. I find Wheel Brightener diluted 3:1 to be stronger than Spray & Rinse. Plus I find that it's more economical than S&R.

Great write up, and terrific photos!

Is not putting your hand in the wash mitt a generally recommended practice? If so, why are wash mitts generally sold with a place to insert the hand inside? Also, I noticed no sealant was applied to car. If I had to choose between sealant and wax after polishing, I would probably opt for the sealant.

when I wash, I grab the cuff and glide it across the paint (no pressure). Cuff itself is too rough.

I used Poorboys EX, which is a sealant w/ carnauba wax. Sorry I didn't specify that.

Great write up, Helps me out seeing your techniques, especially since my g35 is black and it had swirls like your car did.
